The best gift this Christmas
It is said that the best gift you can give to someone is your time, because you're giving them something you can never get back. Therefore, this Christmas, we suggest you pay more attention to your loved ones and try to disconnect from the online world as much as you can. For some might be easy, for others...challenging. Therefore, here are my top 3 pieces of advice for you, for spending a JOMO Christmas during the pandemic:
1. Be online-present.
Even though some of the family members & friends are at a distance, video calls can help you stay connected. While having meaningful time with them online, you may want to turn off the other gadgets so you can be fully present. For example, while you're in a video call try not to check other notifications on your phone, or to take a look from time to time at the TV.
2. Try tech-free moments with your loved ones.
If you are lucky to have someone to be with, make sure you give them your full attention. This one is pretty easy: enjoy the Christmas dinner without being distracted. Put your smartphones in another room, turn off the other gadgets and enjoy the food and the company of your loved ones!
3. Use social media wisely.
We all experience the COVID-19 isolation differently. Seeing "the perfect life" of others on Facebook or Instagram can make you feel bad. What you need to do is to remember that social media shows the very best part of each one's life, and that there's no reason to compare your day to day reality with others' highlights. When the FOMO (the Fear of Missing Out) strikes, put your phone away and think about 3 things you are grateful for.
Have a Merry Christmas, and a JOMO New Year!
